Seattle Sprawl Digital Box Available

Seattle has always been the quintessential Shadowrun setting, and were excited to bring you the first ever box rendition of the Seattle Sprawl (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG)!

And as it’s noted at the bottom, once the print pre-order goes live in a few weeks, if you purchased this digital box, then you’ll receive an email giving you $10 off that preorder!

It’s the shadowrunning capital of the world for a reason. Seattle offers an unparalleled intersection of corporate, political, and criminal powers. This is where icons are made—like the Ancients, the Halloweeners, the Finnigan Crime Family, the Skraacha, Dante’s Inferno, Renraku Arcology, the Big Rhino, and the Alabaster Maiden. And this is where runners like Dodger, Sally Tsung, Dirk Montgomery, Jake Armitage, Twist, Kellan Colt, and James Kincaid made their names, sometimes made their fortunes, and occasionally experienced horrible losses. This is where you go to test your mettle. This is how you show you’re at the top of the heap.

A sprawl this big can’t be contained in a single book, so we made a box. Inside you’ll find:

  • Emerald Shadows, a book outlining the geography of the sprawl and the notable powers and locations in each district;
  • Ruling the Queen City, a deeper examination of the power and history of Seattle, including a look at the people who rule over the city—and the people who control them;
  • Tangled Threads, holding plot hooks and adventures to help launch or continue your Seattle-based game;
  • Character cards, fully statted out cards of Seattle denizens that can be used as easy-reference NPCs of even pre-generated PCs;
  • Modular map cards, a deck of cards showing maps of different types of rooms that can be combined into a never-ender variety of buildings;
  • Gang reference card, providing a quick listing of gangs of the sprawl, their colors, and where they operate;
  • And a poster-sized map of Seattle like Shadowrun has never seen before.
  • All this will bring the sprawl to life while making it easier for players and gamemasters to dive into the shadowy depths that make Seattle legendary—and see if they can keep their head above water.

Seattle Sprawl is for use with Shadowrun, Fifth Edition.

SAVE $10: When you buy this digital box set, you’ll get a code giving you $10 off the preorder of the physical version of the box set once that goes live. Be sure to turn on your email notifications!

New, kinda weird Mission brings Shadowrun design into bold, emoji-based space

Sometimes we like to come out with Missions that are not part of the regular Missions schedule, and sometimes we like to do things with those Missions that are a little experimental. In that vein, we bring you the new Mission, UnCONventional Warfare, wherein the type of Shadowrun adventure often played in a convention setting is an adventure with a convention setting, because we hope reality will fold back in on itself enough times to usher in the Singularity.

Along with its bold setting, the Mission features a whole new look that in many ways may seem primitive but in other, more important ways is totally futuristic, because it has emojis all over the place, and nothing says hip, hot, and futuristic like emojis. Shadowrun line developer Jason Hardy said about this design choice: “I love almost everything about Shadowrun‘s art and design, but there is one glaring flaw: an almost total lack of emojis. We need more emojis. More emojis! Emojis everywhere!”

Shadowrun art director Brent Evans took the whole thing in stride. While the decision was made a little late to allow Mr. Evans to actually participate in the design, he noted his enthusiasm thusly: “My head is swimming with the visual possibilities.  We could run amok with this.” And run amok we shall!

Legendary design and layout guy Matt “Wrath” Heerdt was somewhat less sanguine, saying “Oh nice, you drop an emoji project on me with no warning? And let me guess, production will have to develop those? Do you have any idea how swamped I am and how much time a smiling-winking-troll emoji would take to design? I’ll shuffle some projects around, just don’t expect the troll emojis to be twice as big as the elf emojis …” At that point he shuffled off to hide under a warm blanket with his laptop and a huge carafe of coffee.

But enough build-up. Why don’t you see the triumph of emoji-based design for yourself? Since this Mission is such an experiment, we’re giving it away for free. Here’s the link: SMH 2016-01 UnCONventional Warfare

And we’ll note that whatever else this Mission is, it’s entirely playable. Have fun!

I can summon monsters

Seriously. I can. I know, it’s late right now, and maybe I’m not thinking clearly, but here’s the deal–I typed something, innocently, into Facebook. Something my toddler daughter said about pandas that was nonsense. She said “Pandas like to blow up fire.” Really, she said that. And I thought it was cute and funny, but that was it. But then this panda creature that blows up fire (whatever that means) came across my screen as a whole illustration–a pandamander.

So great. I knew what it looked like. But what does it do? More importantly, how could I use it in Shadowrun game terms?

I didn’t have to wonder for long. Soon, this arrived:

Pandamander-2

It’s clear, then. With the work I have been doing on the upcoming critter book, Howling Shadows, I have gained the ability to summon new beasts out of thin air. Either that, or I know some really creative, really weird people who do things when whims strike them. Which is also good.

Shadowrun Missions: Killing Pawn PDF Available

The next Shadowrun Mission is available (BattleShop, DriveThruRPG)!

Shadowrun Prime Mission 001

There are certain things shadowrunners know. They know Mr. Johnson will not tell you everything. They know sometimes the things you don’t know can kill you. And they know that one of the keys to survival is staying one step ahead of the opposition—or, in times when you are working for a devious Mr. Johnson, not falling too many steps behind.

The corporate enclave of Manhattan is the scene for some high-stakes manipulation that will test just how skilled shadowrunners are. Killing Pawn is a Prime Mission, a higher-level challenge designed for characters that have already triumphed in a large number of regular Missions and are ready for something tougher. Runners will have to think fast and shoot even faster if they want to come out ahead in this game—or at least not get captured in the first few moves.

Market Panic and Serrated Edge now out! What are they? Read on!

It seems like it’s about time to have some new Shadowrun releases, doesn’t it? I mean, besides the awesome news about electronic versions of classic novels. How about two new books That’s right, two books are now available for available for PDF purchase and print pre-order. First, we have the corporate sourcebook for Shadowrun, Fifth Edition –it’s called Market Panic (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG), and it’s your guide to the plots and plans the Big Ten are hatching as they scramble for that elusive extra billion nuyen. We also have a new adventure for you called Serrated Edge (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG). Set in Denver, it gives you the chance to expose some wolf in sheep’s clothing–and put in motion events that will shake up the Sixth World! But let’s take them one at a time.

First is Market Panic, with detailed info on each member of the Big Ten, plus a look into the life of a corp drone and the machinations of the Corporate Court:

PAIN POINTS

Chaos is horrible for business—unless your business is shadowrunning. The Big Ten megacorporations of the Sixth World are reeling, with scandals, disasters, and crippling attacks coming at them from all angles. NeoNET is scrambling to maintain AAA status, Ares is trying not to let the secret rot at the heart of the corp become public, while Aztechnology, fresh from taking on a dragon in Amazonia, is looking at a facedown with another great dragon. And that’s not all—every corp is a pile of schemes, turmoil, upheaval, and teetering chaos, because that’s how they operate.

Market Panic runs down the state of the Big Ten for Shadowrun, providing the background, story developments, and plot hooks players and gamemasters need to add excitement, intrigue, and Sixth World flavor to their adventures and campaigns. If you’re going to run for or against the big megacorporations—and that includes all shadowrunners—this is critical information to have so you know what you might get thrown into, who you’re going up against, and how you might obtain enough intel to survive. Market Panic is for use with Shadowrun, Fifth Edition.

Next up is Serrated Edge, everything you need for a hot time in the Sixth World’s leading city of intrigue and espionage, Denver:

SCALPEL OF HATE

The Sixth World is many things, including a stunning series of case studies on the mechanisms of hate. There are some true experts out there, people who know that just walking up to someone or something you don’t like and throwing a solid punch is satisfying, but nowhere near as satisfying as causing destruction that runs deep and lasts forever.

The Aurora Warrens of Denver hold a dark secret, as some people trusted to help its residents are instead giving full rein to their darkest impulses. Shadowruuners typically are not heroes riding in to save the day, but in this case the work they’re being offered gives them a chance to dig into these secrets, perhaps fix some of them, and maybe even bring a few people to justice—however they happen to define justice. With dark secrets, double-crosses, and plenty of nuyen flying around, Serrated Edge gives players plenty of chaos to keep up with while launching them into a series of adventures that will shake up the city of spies and maybe bring about a better future. Or curse it to worse.

Serrated Edge is an adventure for use with Shadowrun, Fifth Edition.

SHADOWRUN & BATTLETECH LEGENDS FICTION RETURNS

From the moment Decision at Thunder Rift published in 1986 for BattleTech and Into The Shadows published in 1990 for Shadowrun, novels became an integral part of each universe. Unfolding a living arrow of time where the universe changed and progressed, while also presenting different sides of each story: all the shades of grey.

Over one hundred and thirty novels published across two decades for these two phenomenal settings, with well over two million copies of BattleTech novels alone having been sold worldwide in over ten different languages: BattleTech is one of the largest, longest-running science fiction universes. In some countries, they have outsold prominent licensed literary properties such as Star Trek and Star Wars.

Now, after many years of work by Topps Company, Inc., Loren Coleman and the dozens and dozens of authors who contributed their skills to the skein of amazing stories woven through BattleTech and Shadowrun, we’re ecstatic to announce the return of these Legends as we begin rolling them out in epub, available across a wide spectrum of digital venues:

The first releases, available right now, are:

SHADOWRUN

  • Never Deal With a Dragon: Secrets of Power #1 (Robert Charrette): $0.99
  • Choose Your Enemy Carefully: Secrets of Power #2 (Robert Charrette): $2.99
  • Find your Own Truth: Secrets of Power #3 (Robert Charrette): $4.99
  • Order from: BattleCorps, DriveThruFiction, Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Kobo (some sites may take some time to propagate appropriately). [We’ve a Legends (E-Pub Fiction) page where all of these will be posted for ease of review.]

Also, don’t forget that Shadowrun has over a half-dozen, brand new print novels, with more action on the way!

    BATTLETECH

  • Wolf Pack (Robert Charrette): $2.99
  • Highlander Gambit (Blaine Lee Pardoe): $4.99

To celebrate the return of these Legends several epubs for each line have newly commissioned covers; the remaining book covers will be a combination of new and pulled from the archives.

Additionally, this is obviously just the tip of the iceberg. On a regular schedule we’ll be rolling out the entire Shadowrun and BattleTech Legends!

The first two epubs for each universe include a fantastic introductory price. It’s never been a better time to return to these brilliant novels, or dive in for the first time. Spread the word!

BATTLETECH: EMBERS OF WAR PRINT PRE-ORDER/EPUB AVAILABLE
Last year we announced the return of BattleTech print fiction in Embers of War and it was available in a limited printing for Gen Con 2015. The release of this book was pushed back for a variety of reasons, including creating a new co-branding for the cover design, as well as coordinating with the return of the Legends.

The time is now to grab your epub copy, as well as preorder your print copy of Embers of War, the first new, novel-length print BattleTech fiction in seven years!

For Ezra Payne and the Stealthy Tiger mercenaries, professionalism is everything. Hired to assist in the bitter, bloody fighting on the planet Hall, they quickly earn a decisive victory for their employer. They settle afterward in for a needed period of rebuilding, and a few months’ peace before moving on to the next contract.

But their respite does not last. More mercenaries, hired by the Allied Mercenary Command itself, land on Hall. They believe the Tigers’ employer to be league with the Word of Blake, a shadowy interstellar organization that worships technology, and which has been building its own empire among the worlds around Terra.

The Tigers want nothing of this battle, but war rages across the Inner Sphere. The hard-fought cease-fire cannot last, even on Hall, and when every faction is embittered and fueled by fervor, peace has no chance at all.

As a new conflict erupts, will the Stealthy Tigers’ BattleMechs be enough to save them? Or will the looming threat of renewed war engulf them in its fiery embrace?

    Order from: BattleCorp or DriveThruFiction.

    Or Pre-Order the Epub/Print combo from BattleCorps.com

    Two New Shadowrun Novels Available!

Dive into the Sixth World with some great, new fiction, including the next anthology!

The Sixth World is a dangerous place, with deadly hazards lurking around every corner. Everywhere shadowrunners go, from the top of the world to the deepest, darkest Sprawl neighborhood, someone’s always looking to make their rep by taking you down.

World of Shadows is the second anthology of original Shadowrun short stories, each one showcasing some of the most far-flung, treacherous locations around the world. From a scientific mission gone wrong in the snowy wilds of Russia to an AR nightclub in Morocco sheltering runners on the lam to a recovering runner drawn into a deadly web of intrigue in the darkest alleys of Hong Kong, these eighteen original short stories explore exotic settings far off the beaten path. Featuring stories by Michael A. Stackpole, Mel Odom, Jean Rabe, Aaron Rosenberg, Phaedra Weldon, Annie Bellet, Chris A. Jackson and many others, find out what happens when shadowrunners have to battle not only with ever-present threat of the corps and Mr. Johnson, but also the dangers of the very land they stand on.

Available for epub purchase at BattleShop or DriveThru, or you can order the print book!

Shadowrunner Katar Hawke knows the score on the streets. Every job is to be executed swiftly and simply—no muss, no fuss, and with as little help as possible. But when an extraction of a seemingly ordinary grad student from a Central American dig goes south in a big way, Hawke has to keep them both alive while he figures out what he’s stumbled into—and how to get out of it in one piece.

But nothing about this shadowrun is remotely ordinary. The student, Rachel Gordon, has unearthed an artifact linking the Sixth World and the long gone, magical Second World. The discovery sets off a lethal chain reaction of feuding megacorporations and cold-blooded killers who will do anything to get their hands on her and what she knows.

Caught in the hardest of hard places, Hawke must break his cardinal rule and assemble his own shadowrunning team to survive what’s coming at him. But in the end, it all comes down to one question: will he sell out Rachel to the highest bidder, or join her on a quest that could change the face of the Sixth World forever?

Available for epub purchase at BattleShop or DriveThru, or you can order the print book!

San Francisco, a New Mission, and Other PDFs!

First up, we’ve got some new PDFs for Shadowrun, Fifth Edition action.

Money? Check. Political turmoil leading to scrambling for power? You bet. Megacorps jockeying for position while working to take their rivals down a notch? Of course! A festering hive of corruption set next to one of the most scenic bays ever colonized by humans? Absolutely! San Francisco has all of the ingredients needed to make a nice, festering stew for shadowrunners. With the former imperialistic fascist General Saito out of power and the entire bay area united as a single sprawl, there is power and money to be had, which means business in the shadows is booming. San Francisco is a shadowrunner’s guide to the people, places, and plots that make up this city, providing the paydata they need to navigate the hilly streets and cruel back roads of a sprawl whose aura of sophistication can’t mask its deadly heart.

With information on getting into and around the city, notable locations across the sprawl, and plot hooks to keep runners busy, San Francisco is an indispensable aid to Shadowrun players looking to bring their skills to the city by the bay.

San Francisco is part of the City by Shadow series of e-books focusing on cities across the Sixth World.

Available for PDF purchase at BattleShop or DriveThru.

Shadowrun Missions, Season 6, Adventure 2

The Chicago sprawl is host to all manner of strange creatures—ghouls, toxic spirits, hellhounds, barghests, and chickens. Yes, chickens. The city is mostly urbanized, but there are also large swathes of vacant land, and some enterprising souls have been farming that land. This is the Sixth World, though, which means that whenever you have someone trying something bold, you have a dozen other people thinking, “How can I use that to hurt other people?”

The runners are going to have some unusual jobs on this mission, including spreading some poisons and making sure innocent lives are spared (if they’re so inclined). They’ll have to be on their toes to steer clear of the authorities, get all the pieces of this particular scheme in place, and in particular answer the pressing question: Just what is Mr. Johnson up to?

Amber Waves of Grain continues the latest Shadowrun Missions plotline set in Chicago. Whether you played other Chicago Missions, including the first one in this plotline (Ten Fifty-Seven) or are just launching into the series, this Mission provides plenty of action packed into a single adventure.

Available for PDF purchase at BattleShop or DriveThru.

Each piece of gear is accompanied by a full color illustration providing a look at the item’s complete details and features.

Runner’s Black Book is for use with Shadowrun, Twentieth Anniversary Edition.

Asking a shadowrunner if they really need another gun is like asking someone if they need all that oxygen floating around them. Are you ever going to use all that air? Maybe not. RUNNER’S BLACK BOOK 2074 is about options, giving runners more choices of guns, weapons, vehicles, and other gear so that they can build a load out that suits them. Rigger 5.0 available for PDF purchase and print pre-order! Mission coming!

This is the season of peace and joy, but enough about the new Star Wars movie. Let’s talk about giving good news to riggers, whom we love. We have good news–a big book of rigging awesomeness called Rigger 5.0 is currently available for PDF purchase and print pre-order (Battleshop, DriveThru). It’s packed full of rigging goodness–a dozen new aircraft, about two dozen watercraft, more than sixty–sixty!–groundcraft, and about as many drones as groundcraft. Plus new Electronic Warfare uses for riggers, new qualities and life modules, chase rules, modification rules, and so on! Need more info? Check this out:

    Premium Rush

Spin your wheels over slick sprawl streets while drifting away from hot pursuit. Fly through narrow canyons ahead of missiles twisting their way after you. Shrink down to insect size to get an eye on places outsiders aren’t supposed to see. These are just some of the ways riggers jack up their seemingly unending adrenaline rush, as they show that the hardest shadowrunners to hit are the ones that stay in motion.

Rigger 5 is the ultimate hot-rod, jet plane, speedboat, and more companion for Shadowrun. With dozens of new vehicles and drones, more detailed rules for vehicle chase and combat, and customization rules, this is a book that every rigger needs to get ahead of the competition and stay there. Get the feel of laying down hot rubber in the cold shadows of the Sixth World and a taste for speed, danger, and a good, clean getaway.

Rigger 5 is for use with Shadowrun, Fifth Edition

But the good news does not stop there! Other good news: To be absolutely clear, we are breaking the rigger curse with this book. In times past, the arrival of a rigger book was closely followed by a new edition of Shadowrun. This is not happening this time around. We have not started even preliminary discussions about a sixth edition of Shadowrun. We have made a two-year schedule, and no sixth edition appears on it. So rest easy, riggers! Hit the accelerator, jump in, and get ready for a nice, long ride!

And one more piece of good news–a new Mission is on the way! Watch this space for more news!

    Secrets of CPA study

If you want to see success secrets of the CPA exam, secrets that other students do not want you to discover, then you have come to the right article. Why would other students not want you to learn these secrets? Well it is basically because if you know about these secrets then you will be better able to pass the exam and then you will actually pass it, and that will create a higher number of new CPAs coming through, so that means that these other competing CPAs will have a harder time getting paid what they want because of the higher availability of people who have this qualification. It is just the laws of economics, but you need not allow that to worry you because quite honestly there is still a low enough number of qualified CPA’s coming through that if you and a whole host of other people that you will meet on exam day get qualified, it will not be too detrimental to the wages that you all end up getting paid by firms after you are done and passed.

So what are the secrets? Basically just to find the 100% best CPA review course. This can be a challenge but there are plenty of review courses for CPA exam.

    We Love Shadow Run 4

Shadow Run 4 has made our weekends enjoyable in the past few months. It’s like we all get home from work and all we wanna do is just play this this game and it is making us truly happy. We save money this way too because if we are at home on the weekend gaming then that means that we won’t be out at the bar getting wasted, making embarrassing attempts to hit on girls, and spending all our money. We do accept that with this gamer lifestyle we are pretty much resigning ourselves to celibacy and we did have a group discussion where we all mutually agreed that the day that any of us get laid will be the day that nun’s and priests change their whole philosophy on life and take up polygamy. That said you should not laugh at us like most people do, instead you should respect us and let us do our thing.

If you wanna Follow shadow run on facebook you can. It’s the official page and is nothing to do with us. They got twitter too.

The post We Love Shadow Run 4 appeared first on Shadow Run 4 Fan Site.

Too much new Shadowrun goodness to fit in the headline! Read on!

We have so many wonderful Shadowrun offerings to brighten your fall! All sorts of shadowy deeds are waiting to be committed with the resources from three–three!–new books that are available now!

First up is Hard Targets, a Deep Shadows book focused on the sometimes-unpleasant job of wetwork. It’s out now in a PDF version and available for print pre-order (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG) Whether you’re a runner looking to get into the assassination biz, a team taking a job to stop an assassin, or someone who has a contract on their head and people out looking to colelct, this book is full of information you need to know, including tips and tools for people in the trade. It also has a detailed look at the city of Havana in the Caribbean League, where all sorts of wetwork jobs are going down. Here’s the full description:

    The Cloak of Death

It’s thick. Luxurious. Concealing. The cloak of death will make you feared, envied, and maybe even wealthy. It will also smother your soul. The best assassins in the Sixth World can gain untold wealth and make the whole world shake, but they also will be hunted and stalked until the end of their days. Assuming their conscience doesn’t eat them alive.

Hard Targets is a shadowrunner’s guide to bringing death, with information on getting into wetwork, tactics for doing the job, and critical gear. It also contains plot details and adventure hooks, including an in-depth look at the city of Havana in the Caribbean League, a political and criminal hotspot that lends itself to all sorts of wetwork jobs. The work is there—if you can deaden your soul enough to take it.

Hard Targets is a Deep Shadows book for use with Shadowrun, Fifth Edition.

Next up is a compilation of adventures called Boundless Mercy, also available for PDF purchase and print pre-order (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG). I make a habit of asking players and gamemasters at the big summer convention which of the Missions that were run at the convention were the most fun. And a few years back, the same group of Missions kept coming up–the series that has now been collected in this book. With an ongoing plotline, the adventures in this book can form a campaign, or they can be run individually and interspersed with other plotlines. However you decide to use it, fun awaits! Here’s more info:

    The Hunt is On

Elizabeth Nunn, a delightful woman who happens to have an odd habit of hanging out in hospitals and abandoned churches, has a grudge. A deep grudge. The kind of grudge that requires professional help to work out, and we’re not talking about a psychotherapist. She needs shadowrunners, and if they’re willing to take on the job, they’ll encounter fierce gangers, wild critters, and members of a secret magical society who fiercely guard their secrets. If the runners can survive, they can find out just what Nunn is mad about—and how far she is willing to go for her revenge.

Boundless Mercy is a series of Shadowrun Missions that were first run at major conventions. Featuring four linked adventures with complete game information, this book offers plenty of resources for gamemasters—and some steep challenges for players.

Boundless Mercy is for use with Shadowrun, Fifth Edition.

And finally we have the last book in the Shadows in Focus: Sioux Nation series. The most recent book in that series, Butte, contained an overview of that multi-level city, and now we have a PDF adventure called Counting Coup (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG) that brings you to Butte and other locations in the Sioux Nation on a challenging mission. Here’s the rundown:

    Running Into Danger

Illegally entering the Sioux Nation is hard. So is crossing the Sioux National Police. Doing both? That will earn you a good payday or a bullet in the head. But that’s the job that’s been offered. And what shadowrunner worth their mettle can resist the chance to make some powerful friends and even more powerful enemies?

Mika, a shadowrunner active on JackPoint, is hiring, and players have a great chance to make a pile of nuyen while showing just how much skill they have. They’ll have to move fast, stay alert, and make sure they hit whatever they’re aiming at. Just like they always do.

Counting Coup is an adventure set in the Sioux Nation and part of the Shadows in Focus: Sioux Nation series. It makes a great tie-in to that series, especially the Butte book, but it can also be used on its own. Counting Coup is compatible with Shadowrun, Fifth Edition.

That should be plenty of fun to keep your Shadowrun game moving. Enjoy!

Continue exploring the Sioux Nation with Butte ebook and new fiction!

Our ebook explorations of the Sioux Nation are moving ahead with two new books (one a bit newer than the other). The newest one provides a look at the shadowy goings-on in the city of Butte, and it goes by the easy-to-remember title of Butte (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG). With intrigue diving down to dozens of meters below the earth’s surface, Butte has a lot going on for adventurous shadowrunners. Check out the details:

    Dangers Below

One of the tricks of shadowrunning in the Sioux Nation is keeping your eye on the things you can’t see. It’s not just the spirits and the unseen magical beings of the world—though that’s part of it—but the dangers underground. The poisons seeping into the earth from abandoned mines, and the vast complex that has been built underground, out of sight of the rest of the population. A spot where money flows and the sun never shines—what more could shadowrunners want?

Butte is an addition to the Shadows in Focus: Sioux Nation series, detailing a new location for Shadowrun players, with character info, locations, background stats, and other game resources to bring exciting twists into your game. Dive into the unique shadows of the Sioux Nation and make sure you stay out of sight of the hidden dangers!

Butte can be used with the other Shadows in Focus: Sioux Nation books or all on its use, and is for use with Shadowrun, Fifth Edition.

Also, make sure you check out the new short fiction from Shadowrun novel author R.L. King, who wrote Borrowed Time. It’s called Wolf and Buffalo (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG, Amazon), and it takes you into the intrigue and deep traditions of Sioux Nation residents. Need more details? Read on:

    Waking Spirits

The Sixth World doesn’t give people much time to grow up. Whoever you are, wherever you live, there’s going to come a time when the world is going to throw you some serious curveballs, and if all you can do is bitch and moan about how you’re not ready for what’s coming your way, you’re not going to last long. Get strong, grow up, and figure out how to survive—that’s what everyone else has done. Except for those lying two meters underground.

One of those tests is about to hit Lena, a young woman living in the Sioux Nation. She’s going to learn a lot about how life in the Sixth World works, and just how far people will go to get what they want, but before she can process any of that, she is going to have to survive criminals, smugglers, and worse. She doesn’t have much to help her, except for some new powers she does not understand. Using them, and drawing on some unexpected allies, is the only way she will live out the day.

Wolf and Buffalo is original short fiction for Shadowrun, Fifth Edition, and part of the Shadows in Focus: Sioux Nation collection of books—though you don’t need to read anything else to enjoy the story!

The Sixth World is, of course, a horribly dystopian place, but it also is a place where people face the wondrous possibilities of making entirely new versions of themselves. Any part of the metahuman body can be replaced, and the new augmentations sourcebook Chrome Flesh (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG) is your guide to all the possibilities. With cyberware, bioware, nanotech, genetech, and a host of new chemicals, this book gives runners dozens of ways to amp up their game–and see just how much of their humanity they’re willing to fritter away. It also comes with full tables listing all Shadowrun, Fifth Edition augmentations to this point! Here’s more info:

    The Edge of the Possible

Shadowrunners cannot be limited by what their bodies can—or cannot—do. They have to do more, stretch farther, surpass any limits, and accomplish the impossible. Some runners can rely on magic; for everyone else, there are augmentations. From shiny chrome that makes your body into a humanoid semi-truck to genetech that alters you at the most fundamental level to drugs and chemicals that give you a quick and dirty boost, Chrome Flesh provides dozens of new ways to alter Shadowrun characters and make them better, stronger, faster, and altogether readier to kick ass and take names on the streets.

Along with the gear and a compiled table of all cyberware, bioware, genetech, and nanotech currently available in Shadowrun, Fifth Edition, Chrome Flesh covers how runners break down and what resources can help fix them up, and where augmentation tech might go in the future. It’s paydata every shadowrunner needs if they want to overcome everything the Sixth World is going to throw at them.

Chrome Flesh is for use with Shadowrun, Fifth Edition.

Data Trails out! And a new novel! Shadowrun awesomeness explodes!

Do you like hacking the Matrix? Do you feel the need for new programs? Qualities aimed specifically at deckers and technomancers? Advice on playing and running the Matrix? A two-column example of how Matrix play proceeds? Information on artificial intelligences, Dissonance pools, and other deeply weird parts of the Matrix? All this, and art that springs from the most deeply deranged art notes we’ve ever assembled? Then you should know about Data Trails, the new core Matrix sourcebook for Shadowrun, Fifth Edition. It is now available for PDF purchase and print pre-order (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG), including various bundle configurations that also offer a sweet limited edition. Need more details? Scan this:

    The Infinite Frontier

The last great undiscovered country is vast, wild, and weirder than you can possibly imagine. And it’s nearby, waiting, accessible by the press of a button, or a simple gesture, or even just a thought. The Matrix holds a whole lot more than selfies and cat videos—it has artificial intelligences, electronic ghosts of people formerly alive (or perhaps still living), and deep wells of pure data that can swallow you whole. Oh, and a copy of every secret ever recorded electronically. The possible rewards of exploration are great, and the dangers are greater.

Data Trails is the Matrix sourcebook for Shadowrun, Fifth Edition, offering more options for decker and technomancer characters, including qualities, programs, gear and more. With detailed examinations of hacker culture, information on diving deep into immersive hosts, and briefings on the strange sites hidden in dark corners of the Matrix, Data Trails is a vital resource for any Shadowrun players involved in the omnipresent flow of information. Non-Matrix specialists have chances to get in on the adventures as well, with game details explaining how their skills and expertise translate into the wild virtual world.

Data Trails is for use with Shadowrun, Fifth Edition.

Also, we have a new novel for you! The Shadowrun novel line continues to march forward with Borrowed Time by R.L. King (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG, Amazon link coming soon!). You’ve seen King’s work in Shadowrun, Fifth Edition and the anthology that accompanied the Shadowrun Returns video game, and now you get a full-length novel, featuring her signature character, Winterhawk! If you need details, you can read the summary below, or you can check out the full review that has already been posted on Diehard GameFan. But whatever you do, make sure you check out the creepy cover art below.

Out of Time, Out of Options

JackPointer mage Winterhawk left the shadows at the top of his game: these days he indulges his curiosity about all things mysterious and magical on his own terms. But he’s about to discover that the shadows are hard to leave behind, and old enemies have their ways of drawing him back in.

Dosed with an exotic arcane poison that will kill him in days unless he retrieves a powerful magical artifact, ‘Hawk has to assemble a team fast and think even faster, because he’s not the only one tracking down the prize. His team is hardly the well-oiled machine he’s accustomed to: an old friend with major trust issues, an old rival who hates everything ‘Hawk stands for, a decker who annoys everyone he meets, a samurai who’s only in it for the money, and a gunslinger who may have her own agenda.

With his life on the line and the clock ticking fast, ‘Hawk must survive the mean streets of Los Angeles and the magical hellscape of the Australian Outback while keeping his mismatched team from imploding before they finish the job. But when the artifact is revealed to be far more than it seems, Winterhawk is forced to make a choice that could affect the lives of millions—to say nothing of his own.

New Shadowrun campaigns out for PDF purchase, print pre-order!

We’ve just released two new campaigns for a variety of fantastic action within the Sixth World.

First up is Shadowrun: Lockdown, now available for print-pre-order and PDF purchase (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG). This crossover plot book covers a slew of details of what’s going down in Boston and ties into the action of Shadowrun: Chronicles.

      Voices of Disaster

The voices are getting louder. Strange voices, dissonant voices, sometimes babbling nonsense, sometimes telling stories too unbelievable to be true. People are falling prey to the voices, losing their identities as someone or something else slips into their skin. It’s affecting people at all levels of society, from squatters in burned-out warehouses to corporate CEOs. It’s spreading, and no one can figure out how to stop it. Boston-based NeoNET is at the center of this storm, and panic is spreading through the streets of the northeastern sprawl. People are scared and people are dying, which means that there are large sums of money to be made by any shadowrunner willing to brave those chaotic streets. Finding work won’t be the problem. Getting out of the sprawl, however, will be.

Lockdown is a plot sourcebook for Shadowrun, Fifth Edition with plot hooks, setting details of Boston, character details, and surprising reveals that will keep characters on their toes and running for their lives. With rich plot information and game mechanics for a new breed of cognitive fragmentation disorder sufferers, Lockdown can play a vital role in enthralling Shadowrun campaigns while continuing the unfolding story of the Sixth World.

Next up is Bloody Business–also available for print-pre-order and PDF purchase (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG)–a campaign book in the style of Jet Set and Artifacts Unbound.

      Wounded Fury

A scared megacorporation does not run and hide in the shadows. Instead it lashes out, swiping with sharp claws, not caring who is hit by the blows. Many of the megacorps are currently reeling, hit by multiple harsh wallops. NeoNET and Evo are dealing with the fallout of the CFD virus, Ares has powerful forces eating it away from inside, Horizon backed the losing side of the Aztlan-Amazonia war, and the Japanacorps are rearing back to take on the world—and each other. When the corps get aggressive, shadowrunners get called, and blood gets shed.

Bloody Business is a campaign book giving players the chance to earn piles of money from the megacorps as they reel through troubles and crises. It’ll take a lot of good shadowrunning moves to earn that cash—and even better moves to survive long enough to collect it. With short adventure outlines that can be played independently or linked into a longer campaign, and NPC stats to suit a wide variety of situations, Bloody Business plunges Shadowrun teams in the middle of corporate chaos.

The dark side of Shadowrun stretches its legs with two new releases

We all know that Shadowrun is not the happiest of game universes, but for those of you who like to add a nice heaping of extra darkness to your games and reading–and who doesn’t?–we have two new releases for you today!

First up is a new e-book called 10 Terrorists (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG), and to get a sense of what’s going on in the book, we’re going to share a little behind-the-scenes exchange with you from when the drafts of art were coming through. Here’s how the author (who also wrote Nothing Personal and the Mr. Johnson chapter of Run Faster) reacted: “HOLY S***! … That’s some extreme art. Awfully violent, but it makes a statement.” And then the e-book developer explained it like this: “This is a dystopian universe and terrorists are generally considered the worst of the worst. To illustrate that in pictures we needed to reach into places the public doesn’t like to look.”

The point is, 10 Terrorists looks at some dark parts of human nature and how this can be used in your Shadowrun games. We understand that not everyone wants to go where this book goes (and for a glimpse of that, take a look at the cover on the linked pages), but for those who do, the book has some ways to throw new twists and dangers at shadowrunners while fleshing out the dangers of the Sixth World. Here’s a summary of the book:

    Causes of Blood

There is no way to sugarcoat it—people in the Sixth World spend an awful lot of time coming up with reasons to kill each other. When it comes to moral codes, people don’t think they’re better than others because they don’t kill and others do—they compare the reasons for killing, ranking them, trying to justify the oft-unjustifiable. You can talk to a hundred people and get a hundred different opinions about what’s justified and what’s not, and about which motivations are worse than others, but consistently at the bottom of the list are those who would kill innocents for a cause, who would instill terror in people for political gain, because they see no other recourse.

10 Terrorists covers ten groups in the Shadowrun setting who add chaos and violence to an already chaotic and violent world to further their own twisted causes. From Seed, a Matrix terrorism group that split off Ex Pacis, to Logos, a group that combines environmental extremism with talislegging, these are groups that can add and danger and plot hooks to Shadowrun campaigns. Whether runners are infiltrating the groups, avoiding them, or dealing with the fallout from the chaos they cause, 10 Terrorists can increase the threat level of any Shadowrun game.

10 Terrorists is for use with Shadowrun, Fifth Edition.

Want something slightly lighter? How about a vampire shadowrunner in the ruined sprawl of Chicago trying to catch up with a world that has only grown more dangerous and stranger while he has been out of action? Okay, that may not sound exactly “light,” but that’s what’s happening in the new Shadowrun novel Crimson (Battleshop, DriveThru–note that both of those have epub and Kindle copies in a zip file–Barnes & Noble, Amazon), and even if it’s not exactly sunshine and puppies, it’s plenty of fun. Here’s the summary, as well as the terminally cool cover:

Where No One Knows Your Name …

Thanksgiving, 2075. Shadowrunning vampire-mage Rick “Red” Lang used to make his living hunting dangerous insect spirits and twisted mages, but when he awakens after twelve years of involuntary hibernation, he finds the rest of the world has gotten even stranger.

Red begins piecing together what had happened during his lost time—and who put him under in the first place. But as he journeys through the neon-drenched ruins of Chicago and its augmented facades, Red uncovers an even larger plot involving eldritch forces seeking to invade from beyond our reality. He teams up with the few allies he can trust—Pretty, a beautiful ghoul, and Slim, a hacker extraordinaire—as they head into the middle of multiple schemes and power plays surrounding a dangerous new conflict threatening to shatter the uneasy peace into all-consuming chaos.

New adventure continues Shadowrun’s exploration of the Sioux Nation

The Shadows in Focus: Sioux Nation series continues forward! With previous books focusing on the Sioux Nation as a whole and the city of Cheyenne, we now have a new adventure that will plunge runners into a tumultuous family and political feud that could have repercussions for millions of Sioux Nation residents–and plenty of people beyond those borders. The adventure is called Starving the Masses (Battlecorps, DriveThruRPG)–here’s the full summary:

    A Half-Step from Chaos

If there’s anything shadowrunners have learned over and over again, it’s that the veneer of civilization coating much of the world is extremely thin (in the Barrens, of course, it’s non-existent). There are so many tensions in the Sixth World that altering the delicate balances just a hair or two can bring chaos and conflict to areas that had previously managed to scrape together a peaceful appearance.

If you want to cause that chaos, all that’s needed is a little gentle pressure on one of the essential arteries that keeps civilization alive. And no artery is as susceptible to this pressure as the food supply.

Stripped of a lucrative position and exiled from his family, Theo Two-Hearts has a score to settle, and he’s going to take it out on the entire Sioux Nation. Like many vengeance-minded people before him, he’s turned to shadowrunners to do his dirty work. If they sign on to his plan, they’re going to confront some of the toughest forces the Sioux Nation can throw at them. The first bit of chaos they create will rain down on them—if they survive, much more will follow.

Starving the Masses is an adventure that is part of the Shadows in Focus: Sioux Nation series for Shadowrun, Fifth Edition. It can be played alone, or the Sioux Nation and Cheyenne books can be used to add more richness and details to a challenging run!

New free Shadowrun adventure released! Line developer assumed drunk

[Note that this blog post is being dictated, as Mr. Hardy felt typing posed too great a challenge.]

I don’t … I just can’t … there’s ponies. Ponies and Amish. And they’re all thrown together and statted out. Statted! Stats for ponies!

The world used to make sense to me. Mr. Johnson … he wore a suit.  And he screwed you over good, and you took it! And yeah, there was gunfire and grenades and spells raining down all over, but it all worked! But now, now you kids with your Tumbles and your Instant Grahams and your, and your …

    [unintelligible]

… couldn’t hold a candle to even one of Betty Grable’s legs! What was I talking about?

This adventure. Yeah. Did you see the cover? I didn’t know hallucinogens that strong even existed. Holy freakin’ cow dung on skateboard. You should see it. Gaze upon the madness. Gaze!

And here’s where it gets horrible, where my reality and my nightmares twist into some terrible pretzel of madness. I have that horse! On the cover. She’s in my house!

It’s just … I can’t … I can’t think about this. So take it. Take your adventure with the ponies and Amish and war buggies, and you go play it. It’s a Mission, they tell me! It’s real, they tell me! Do what you want with it. I gotta lie down.

    SMH2015-01 Friendship Is Tragic

Shadowrun release-a-palooza! All sorts of Shadowrun goodness now available!

I had a convention to attend and other business keeping me busy this week, which meant I didn’t keep up with the full pace of Shadowrun releases this week. But with all the stuff coming out, how could I? Let’s run it down.

First, for you Shadowrun fiction fans, we have a new novella by acclaimed author Jennifer Brozek. Among her many credits include writing some of the much-praised dialogue for Shadowrun Returns as well stories in Shadowrun, Fifth Edition and Seattle 2072, so she is an experienced Shadowrun hand. Her new work is called DocWagon 19 (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG, Amazon), and here’s the rundown:

    The Life of a Lifesaver

DocWagon—saviors of the needy, rescuers of the desperate. Willing to go anywhere, rescue anyone, as long as that “anyone” has forked out enough advance cash to justify the effort.

Reporter Amelia Hart has embedded herself with a DocWagon team to see what their life is really like, and she’s in for a wild ride. From an OD’ing celebrity to an aggressive team of hackers, from pesky gangs to an extremely rich and powerful client teetering at death’s door, this night will give the team all they can handle. But will they survive long enough to remember that in the Sixth World, nothing is truly random?

Full of memorable characters and rich Sixth World flavor, DocWagon 19 is a thrilling ride with the people struggling to save lives in a sprawl with a million ways to make people dead. Strap in, hold on, crank up the siren, and get ready for a crazy ride-along through the full chaos of the Shadowrun setting.

We also have a new Mission for you! The latest in the Chicago-set Missions, SRM 05-05: While the City Sleeps is now on sale and ready to take all comers (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG)! Here’s the story:

    All the Rage

One of the things the Sixth World excels at is inventing millions of ways to piss people off. Chicago, particularly the Containment Zone, has a special gift for inciting tempers, with its pockmarked roads, feral gangs, bad-tempered thugs, drugged-out vagrants, and many other elements that are irritating at best, fatal at worst.

Fight promoter Sid Gambetti has a lot of pressures piling on him at once, including financial strain and a massive blackmail demand, and if he doesn’t get some relief, he’s likely to blow. Unfortunately, it seems like just about everyone who has become involved with Sid is just as pressured and just as irritated. Any shadowrunners who take on the job that Sid has for them are going to be walking through a minefield of hot-tempered, bulked-out, Sixth World crazies who are just looking for an excuse to put the hurt on someone. Yeah, there’s a pile of nuyen on the other side of the gauntlet, but it will take some quick thinking and fast moving to claim it without being on the receiving end of huge doses of pain.

The latest Shadowrun Mission set in Chicago, While the City Sleeps can be played as part of an ongoing Chicago-based campaign or all by itself, as an exciting night in one of the wildest cities of Shadowrun’s Sixth World setting.

SRM 05-05: While the City Sleeps is for use with Shadowrun, Fifth Edition.

But wait, there’s more! For fans of classic Shadowrun books, we have some volumes that have been newly released to electronic sale! For anyone wanting more paydata on the Native American Nations, the profiles of those nations–both volume 1 (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG) and volume 2 (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG)–are now available! And then we also have the electronic release of Corporate Shadowfiles (Battleshop, DriveThruRPG)! Go back for the earliest look at the most powerful megacorporations in the world–the people who make them go, the grudges they carry, and the work they need done!

    That’s everything! Now go play!
